After flying high against the Kern Valley Broncs last Tuesday, the Mammoth Huskies came back down to earth. Mammoth fell just short of Bishop Union by a score of 51-48. Mammoth has not had much luck with Bishop Union recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Mammoth's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Jones, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Jones is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kaiam Trabulsi, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Mammoth's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8. As for Bishop Union, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mammoth will square off against East Bakersfield at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bishop Union, they will head out on the road to square off against Rosamond at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rosamond has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 682 points over their last nine matches.
