On the hitting side, Notre Dame saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Marczak, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Alex Riga also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Woodland Regional entered their tilt with Oxford on Friday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Wolverines.
Jason Beaudry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Beaudry was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in June of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Erik Pulkkinen, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Jack Schwenger was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Woodland Regional's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-10. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
