The Pioneer Patriots pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their2023 ended with a  71-55 loss against Sonoma Valley. Pioneer has struggled against Sonoma Valley recently, as their  match on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
 Pioneer lost  despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being   Frank Goodenough, who  scored 15 points along with seven  rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of  Tony Polendo, who  scored 11 points along with five  rebounds.
 Even though they lost, Pioneer  were working as a unit and  finished the game with 12  assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sonoma Valley only racked up 20  assists.
 Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sonoma Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than   Will Breall, who  scored 20 points. The  contest was  Breall's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was  Vinny Girish, who  scored 16 points.
 Pioneer's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Sonoma Valley,  the  win  makes it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 7-4.
 Pioneer's road trip will continue as they head out to face Pierce at 9:30  a.m.  on December 29, 2023. Pierce has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7. Sonoma Valley won't have much time to rest: their next  contest is against Foothill at 3:30  p.m.  on December 29, 2023. Foothill is coming into the  contest hot, having won their last six games.
