Rio Rancho's loss came despite strong showings from Jerry Archuleta and Kevin Archuleta. Archuleta scored 10 points, while Archuleta scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Montoya, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds.
Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Julian Chavez, who scored 19 points along with 3 steals. Tyler Kozlowski was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Rio Rancho's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rio Rancho will take on Clovis at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Albuquerque at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
