The Kenston Forest Kavaliers will challenge the Trinity Episcopal Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kenston Forest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.9 runs per game this season.
Kenston Forest is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 15-9 to the Patriots. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Kavaliers have suffered since March 20th.
Brooklyn Thomas was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. Marley Minton (2029) was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Trinity Episcopal never let their opponents score on Saturday. Everything went their way against Flint Hill as they made off with a 14-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won six contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Cooper Beatty made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Brooke Shelton was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Ainsley McNeer, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Trinity Episcopal kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Trinity Episcopal has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Kenston Forest, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kenston Forest hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .397. However, it's not like Trinity Episcopal struggles in that department as they've averaged .334. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
