On Saturday, Mater Lakes Academy earned a 48-41 win over Gulliver Prep. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mater Lakes Academy.
Mater Lakes Academy found their leader in underclassman Vanessa Vancott, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alessandra Wandembergh, who scored seven points along with nine steals.
Mikayla Brown and Caitlen Dauphin certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Brown scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, while Dauphin dropped a double-double on ten points and 25 rebounds. That was a full 46.3% of Gulliver Prep's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Allison Podvin was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Mater Lakes Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. As for Gulliver Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mater Lakes Academy will take on Schoolhouse Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gulliver Prep, Gulliver Prep and Pine Crest will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
