Basketball Recap: Naijhir White's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Holmes over Currituck County

Holmes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 77-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Currituck County Knights. The Aces were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 61-56.

Several Aces players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Naijhir White, who went 9 for 13 en route to 20 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave White a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre'Shaun Rankins, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds.

Currituck County was led to victory by Tristan Peterson and Jamie Dance. Peterson went 9 of 19 on his way to 20 points along with eight boards and four steals, while Dance dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Dance's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Holden Pickering was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Holmes now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Currituck County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-8.

Holmes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-61 victory against Manteo on the 5th. As for Currituck County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 75-72 loss against Hertford County on the 5th.
