Basketball Recap: Port St. Lucie Falls Despite Big Games from Cooper Graham and Daniel Alexis

Port St. Lucie was the 89-54 winner over Tradition Prep when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Port St. Lucie Jaguars fell just short of the Tradition Prep Pirates by a score of 57-54 on Tuesday. The Jaguars' loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Despite the defeat, Port St. Lucie had strong showings from Daniel Alexis, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds, and Cooper Graham, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 16 points in addition to six assists and six boards. What's more, Alexis also racked up three steals, the most he's had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Alijah Baez, who posted eight points.

Tradition Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aydan Fields, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 22 points and five rebounds. Ethan Chevres was another key player, putting up 13 points along with eight assists and six boards.

Port St. Lucie's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Tradition Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port St. Lucie will square off against Lincoln Park Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Port St. Lucie is facing Lincoln Park Academy at the right time seeing as Lincoln Park Academy is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Tradition Prep, they will take on Pine at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
