Softball Recap: Northern Lehigh Wins Going Away Against Palmerton

Northern Lehigh lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Palmerton, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's matchup. The Bulldogs blew past the Blue Bombers 13-6 on Thursday. Considering the Bulldogs have won six games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Peyton Hoffman was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kylee Snyder, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Northern Lehigh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive contests.

Northern Lehigh now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Palmerton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.

Northern Lehigh will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Schuylkill Haven at 3:30 p.m. on the 20th. The Hurricanes will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Palmerton, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Palisades on the 10th.
