After flying high against the MonDak [Westby/Grenora] Mon-Dak Thunder last Saturday, the Culbertson Cowboys came back down to earth. Culbertson received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 57-40 to the Warriors. While losing is never fun, Culbertson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Warriors are ranked 49th).
Culbertson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bridger Salvevold, who scored 11 points along with five steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Salvevold posted two or more blocks. Donte Eagle Boy was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Culbertson has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Savage, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Culbertson will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Savage, they will head out on the road to face off against the R&L Fusion at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lambert/Richey is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
