The Polk County Wolverines were the 42-9 winner over the East Rutherford Cavaliers when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Polk County had to suffer through a rough 63-20 loss at the hands of East Rutherford. Polk County was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Despite the loss, Polk County still got an impressive performance from Loreynzo Sanchez, who rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
Brandon Pinkerton was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Pinkerton is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Cj Jackson also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
East Rutherford's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB nine times. Polk County's QB won't forget Jordan Dixon anytime soon given Dixon sacked him nine times.
Polk County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for East Rutherford, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Polk County will take on Brevard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Brevard is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games. East Rutherford will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bunker Hill at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Bunker Hill presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East Rutherford in North Carolina (Bunker Hill is ranked 51st, while East Rutherford is ranked 228th).
