The Lakeland Dreadnaughts just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Sebring Blue Streaks at 8:00 p.m. on January 25th. Lakeland knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 games -- so hopefully Sebring likes a good challenge.
Even though Tampa Catholic scored an imposing 65 points on Wednesday, Lakeland still came out on top. Lakeland walked away with a 72-65 win over Tampa Catholic.
Lakeland relied on the efforts of Jamesion Young, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds, and Shanard Clower, who scored 21 points along with six steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clower has scored all season. Orenthal Tinsley was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Sebring didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Davenport on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 60-54 victory.
It was another big night for KJ Turner, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Sylvester Lewis, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Lakeland pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Sebring, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Lakeland couldn't quite finish off Sebring in their previous matchup back in November of 2020 and fell 67-65. Can Lakeland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
