The Northwest Area Rangers will challenge the Crestwood Comets at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northwest Area will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Crestwood's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Saturday: Northwest Area hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Rangers' pitcher stepped up to hand Sullivan County a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by seven runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Jenna Robaczewski's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Ruckle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Hermanofski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Northwest Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in nine consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Crestwood hadn't done well against Pittston recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Comets came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 11-8.
Alexa Toniatti was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Richards, who went 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
Northwest Area pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Crestwood, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northwest Area hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .459. However, it's not like Crestwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northwest Area skirted past Crestwood 15-14 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Rangers repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
