The Weeki Wachee Hornets entered their tilt with the Central Bears with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Weeki Wachee claimed a resounding 73-11 victory over Central on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Weeki Wachee has managed all season.
Weeki Wachee's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paige Atwater, who scored 16 points along with nine steals. Those nine steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Marlee Schumacher, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Central still got an impressive performance from Delanee Duncan, who scored seven points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Duncan has scored all season.
Weeki Wachee pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Central, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weeki Wachee will take on River Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. River Ridge is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Central will be home for the holidays to greet Nature Coast Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Nature Coast Tech's defense has only allowed 27.5 points per game this season, so Central's offense will have their work cut out for Central.
