Elkhorn North has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Bennington Badgers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Elkhorn North's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Elkhorn North walked away with it. They took down Scottsbluff 35-16 on Friday.
Elkhorn North's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Johnny Ferguson, who threw for 140 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jase Reynolds also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Bennington is still undefeated this season after their match against Norris on Friday, but Norris came as close as anyone has to beating them. Bennington sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 23-20 victory over Norris.
Quinton Archer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 232 yards and two touchdowns. Archer has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
Elkhorn North has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.4 points per game. As for Bennington, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.
Elkhorn North ended up a good deal behind Bennington in their previous matchup back in October, losing 14-0. Can Elkhorn North avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
