The Kennedy Commanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 69-30 loss at the hands of Denver North. Kennedy has struggled against Denver North recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Kennedy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Noah Herrera, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds, and Marcus Montez who scored seven points. Isaac Trujillo was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Kennedy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Denver North racked up 14 assists.
Denver North's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Roman Perez, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Giron, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Kennedy bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Denver North, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Kennedy will be playing at home against Vista PEAK Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vista PEAK Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Kennedy in Colorado (Vista PEAK Prep is ranked 13th, while Kennedy is ranked 297th). As for Denver North, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Mahamud Jumale and Giron.
