It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Meridian Wildcats can now relate to. They were dealt a 35-0 defeat at the hands of Oak Grove on Friday. Meridian has struggled against Oak Grove recently, as their match on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Aj Maddox was on fire for Oak Grove: he threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Damari Jefferson also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meridian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Oak Grove, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Meridian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Oak Grove will face off against Brandon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brandon is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
