This season hasn't been kind to the Cummings Cavaliers, who are still winless after their eighth match. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 51-43 defeat to Chatham Central. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cummings in their matchups with Chatham Central: they've now lost six in a row.
Karaleigh Dodson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chatham Central, scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dodson has scored at least 25% of Chatham Central's points. Landry Allen was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Cummings bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Chatham Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cummings will take on Northwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cummings in North Carolina (Northwood is ranked 52nd, while Cummings is ranked 580th). As for Chatham Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Cedar Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Cedar Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Tuesday.
