Landon Mattis made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Juma Mkakile, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Mkakile is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Alex Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Bendle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bentley only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous five matchup, Eastern brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They blew past Sexton 19-3 on Thursday. The Quakers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Alejandro Eno was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
Bendle pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Eastern, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.
Eastern's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bendle hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .433. It's a different story for Eastern, though, as they've only averaged .226. Will they be able to contain Bendle's hitters?
