Everything went their way against Brevard on Friday as East Rutherford made off with a 68-45 win. East Rutherford's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Bella Harris and Taniyah Cash were among the main playmakers for East Rutherford as the former scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cash has scored at least 25% of East Rutherford's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Garryn Thompson, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bessemer City's 21-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. The contest between Bessemer City and East Rutherford wasn't particularly close, with Bessemer City falling 56-41. While losing is never fun, Bessemer City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 488th, while East Rutherford is ranked 102nd).
East Rutherford's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Bessemer City, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
