Mahoning Valley - Scarlet Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Geno Perry Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Lowellville was led to victory by Geno Perry, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Perry rushed for 282 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 2.1 rushing touchdowns per game. Those 282 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
On the season, Perry has averaged 22.2 receiving yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 35.33 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 184.78 rushing yards.

Western Reserve Gets a Boost from Darney in 39-12 Victory
Jack Darney posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He rushed for 217 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry.
Mineral Ridge's probably not too fond of Darney given he always seems to get the better of them. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Darney saw the Rams), he rushed for 138 yards while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, and also picked up 51 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Dante Gentile and Co. Win Sixth in a Row
Dante Gentile was instrumental in extending Springfield's winning streak to six on Friday. Nobody could stop Gentile as he rushed for 187 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 115 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Gentile and Springfield will be playing at home against Lowellville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers had to take a loss when they last met the Rockets, but Gentile had little to do with the loss: he rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown. Can he match (or beat) that performance?
