The Pueblo Central Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Pueblo County 54-11. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pueblo Central in their matchups with Pueblo County: they've now lost nine in a row.
Emeri Whiting was Pueblo Central's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Pueblo County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rylee Stupnik, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylee Glenn, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Pueblo Central's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.2 points per game. As for Pueblo County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pueblo Central will take on Pueblo East at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pueblo East focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday. As for Pueblo County, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Pueblo South at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Pueblo County's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Pueblo South's offense will have their work cut out for them.
