Even though the Central of Coosa County Cougars have not done well against the Reeltown Rebels recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Everything went Central of Coosa County's way against the Rebels as the Cougars made off with a 54-29 win. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Central of Coosa County had established a 20 point advantage.
Central of Coosa County was led to victory by Jerquesha Heard and Ka'Zyriah Johnson. Heard scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and eight blocks, while Johnson scored 18 points along with five assists and four steals. Heard hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Myrakel Coleman, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Despite the defeat, Reeltown saw an underclassman step up: London O'Neal almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. O'Neal hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games. Chizyiah Riley was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds.
Central of Coosa County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Reeltown, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Central of Coosa County and the Tigers will face off at 5:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Reeltown, they will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Holtville comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
