Softball Recap: Herndon Comes Up Short

Herndon lost against South Lakes back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Hornets took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Seahawks.

Cadence Godshalk was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Godshalk wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anna Korsvall, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Jamie Taggart also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Herndon has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for South Lakes, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.

Coincidentally, Herndon and South Lakes will both be playing Oakton the next time they take the field. The Hornets will head out to face the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Seahawks will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
