The Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. Everything went their way against Woodsboro as Skidmore-Tynan made off with a 65-44 win. Given Skidmore-Tynan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 710th, while the Eagles are ranked 1497th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Skidmore-Tynan had a senior duo take command as Cole Rivers dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds and Bennett Martinez scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. Rivers hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Roach, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Skidmore-Tynan is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. As for Woodsboro, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-23.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Port Aransas the next time they take the court. Skidmore-Tynan will head out to face the Marlins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Eagles will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
