Fredonia gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Sedan Devils with a sharp 20-5 win. This was payback for the Yellowjackets, who suffered a 13-12 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Kennedy DiVietro was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. DiVietro was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, Fredonia got a massive performance out of Grace Church, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Morgan, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Fredonia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sedan only posted an OBP of .429.
