Culver City has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Capistrano Valley Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Culver City had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 38-28 win over Ayala on Friday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Culver City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Myles Singleton, who picked up 145 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a rushing score. The team also got some help courtesy of Pierce Reynoso, who rushed for 163 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.6 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Capistrano Valley's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They skirted past Downey 37-34. The victory was just what Capistrano Valley needed coming off of a 52-6 defeat in their prior game.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Tommy Acosta and Oscar Rios. Acosta had a great game and rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Rios was balling out in the loss, throwing for 348 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 106 yards on only nine carries.
Culver City has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Capistrano Valley, their win bumped their record up to an identical 8-3.
