The Floydada Whirlwinds will head out to challenge the Wellington Skyrockets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Floydada took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Memphis get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. Considering the Whirlwinds have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Delafuente was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Floydada: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Peyton Noland was a standout: he fired off three triples, two runs, and two RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brandyn Diaz, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Floydada was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Wellington put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over Quanah.
Floydada's record is now 7-5. As for Wellington, their record now sits at 3-0.
Floydada might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Wellington when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Whirlwinds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
