Baseball Recap: Creswell Comes Up Short

Creswell dropped their record down to 11-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the La Pine Hawks by a score of 5-3. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 7-3.

As for La Pine, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For La Pine's part, Riley Flack and Elijah Sparrow made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Flack pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sparrow tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Flack also tossed no walks, which is notable because La Pine is 5-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise. At bat, Flack got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI, while Sparrow got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shaye Johnson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Davey Taylor, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
