Baseball Recap: Gilbert Gets the Win

Gilbert came out on top against Dobson on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 9-7. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Will Bates, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Hayden Leach also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Gilbert's win bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Dobson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-17.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gilbert will challenge Highland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dobson, they will take on Skyline at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Coyotes have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
