Jace Christiansen and Geno Taylor Burshiem provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Garretson. The connection went for 84 yards, the longest such play in Big East this season.
Flandreau extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Blue Dragons, 21-6. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Fliers.
Flandreau's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Christiansen threw for 117 and one touchdown and Taylor Burshiem had 84 yards receiving. On the ground Jacob Patterson chipped in 131 yards. Patterson helped Flandreau's passing attack out by catching one ball for 33 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Brandon Reif of McCook Central/Montrose is the league leader in passing yards this season with 330. He has also thrown three touchdowns. On the ground, Chad Stadem's team's Patterson has rushed for 682 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tyler Tofte. The Sioux Valley star has 10 catches for 150 yards.
Two of the top units in Big East will face off this week when the Fliers take on Sioux Valley. Flandreau's offense has racked up 169 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Cossacks have allowed only 128 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Sioux Valley takes on the Fliers. Peter Books's team is currently in fourth, while Flandreau is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when the Cossacks and the Fliers face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Sioux Valley comes in having scored 94 this season, while Flandreau has scored 169. The Cossacks scored 56 points last week as they defeated Crow Creek.
The Cougars suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 26-7 loss to Wagner. McCook Central/Montrose had been ranked 22nd, but fell to 27 following the defeat.
