Valley had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 4-16 to make it five. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (21-4), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-0 back in April.
Nathalia Gentil made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was E'Lonni Wright, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
As for Johnson, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games.
On Johnson's side, Angelene Gonzales and Anissa Zavala made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Gonzales pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Zavala tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gonzales has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Gonzales went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Zavala went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Zavala a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lily Munoz was excellent, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Leticia Gonzales was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Johnson, they will challenge Florin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.93 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
