The Hanover-Horton Comets will head out to face off against the Western Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hanover-Horton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Hanover-Horton managed to slip by Columbia Central the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Comets came up short against the Golden Eagles on Friday, falling 12-2. The Comets' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Jack Wooster was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Western never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against Hastings as they made off with an 11-0 win. The contest marked the Panthers' most dominant victory of the season.
Brody Parrott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Parrott was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lincoln Levy, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Cody Spitzer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Western always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Western and bumps their season record up to 9-9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Hanover-Horton, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hanover-Horton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Western struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hanover-Horton couldn't quite get it done against Western in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 as they fell 8-5. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
