Brody Pino and Johnny Komarowsky made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Pino struck out ten batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Komarowsky pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Pino a new career-high. At the plate, Pino went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Komarowsky went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Leo Royer, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Landon Leu was another, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Denver South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montbello only posted a batting average of .200.
Palmer Ridge hit Discovery Canyon with a nine-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Thunder fell 13-10 to the Bears. The Thunder's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Nate Singleton stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Seeley, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
Discovery Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Denver South, their record now sits at 12-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Denver South hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Discovery Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.7 home runs.
