The Holtville Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Wetumpka Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Holtville was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Marbury on Thursday. Holtville was the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over Marbury. Holtville hasn't had any issues with Marbury recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Brooke Findley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bailea Boone, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-5. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Avery Goff was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Boone wasn't the only one making solid contact: Holtville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. Holtville is 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Wetumpka came tearing into Thursday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 20-2 margin over the Phoenix. Considering the Indians have won 21 matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Sophie Arant made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Wetumpka let Autymn Hollon and Lily Davenport run wild. Hollon went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Davenport went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs Hollon has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ava Farmer, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Wetumpka pushed their record up to 33-4 with the victory, which was their 34th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Holtville, their record now sits at 15-9-1.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Holtville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .378. However, it's not like Wetumpka struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Holtville suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Wetumpka when the teams last played back in February. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
