The Almeta Crawford Chargers will challenge the Royal Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Almeta Crawford comes in on seven and Royal on three.
Almeta Crawford's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against Huntsville by a score of 3-0.
TJ Weaver tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Almeta Crawford's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chris Anderson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Johnny Garcia was another, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Royal won against Fort Bend Willowridge on Tuesday with 19 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Royal put the hurt on Fort Bend Willowridge with a sharp 19-10 victory.
Emilo Torres was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Royal is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 2-4-1 otherwise. Torres was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Steven Barley, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Royal is 3-1 when Barley posts two or more runs, but 2-3-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Diaz, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Royal always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Almeta Crawford's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Royal, they now have a winning record of 5-4-1.
