The West Jordan Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Cyprus by a score of 72-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (56), West Jordan still had to take the loss.
West Jordan's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Giselle Muffet, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds, and Rochelle Afo Manuma who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Muffet has scored all season. Atyana Crosby was another key contributor, scoring three points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cyprus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amelia Echternkamp, who scored 25 points along with five assists and two steals. Echternkamp hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Tamila Francis, who scored 14 points along with five assists and four steals.
West Jordan dropped their record down to 8-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 2.33 points. As for Cyprus, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Jordan will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. As for Cyprus, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Granger has now lost 14 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 14.
