Baseball Recap: Kerr-Vance Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Cape Fear Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kerr-Vance Academy). They blew past the Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles 12-2 on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Thomas Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MJ Wright, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan McDaniel, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Kerr-Vance Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

With the victory, Kerr-Vance Academy broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7. As for Cape Fear Christian Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4.

Kerr-Vance Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Oxford Prep at 6:00 p.m. on April 7. As for Cape Fear Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Ridgecroft at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
