Burges hasn't had much luck against Chapin recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Huskies at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Burges hadn't beaten El Paso on the road since April 19, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-6 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Burges got a massive performance out of Valeria Sanchez, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Sanchez has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Breann Mendoza, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Burges kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, while Chapin put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Andress. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Eagles.
Khloe Jensen made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Jaedyne Armendariz was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Alyssa Pena was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Burges' win bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Chapin, their victory bumped their record up to 20-6.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Burges has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .466. However, it's not like Chapin struggles in that department as they've averaged .523. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Burges might still be hurting after the 15-9 loss they got from Chapin in their previous meeting back in February. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
