The Sage Creek Bobcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sage Creek took a 14-run defeat the last time they faced off against Torrey Pines, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bobcats won by a run and slipped past the Falcons 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bobcats.
Kassidy King spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lola Carson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Torii Ramirez, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Sage Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Rancho Buena Vista entered their tilt with La Costa Canyon on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Mavericks by a score of 5-0.
Not much got past Allison Keusch, who gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks to keep La Costa Canyon off the board. Keusch has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Maizie Smith was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Abigail Niwata was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Sage Creek's record now sits at 11-9-1. As for Rancho Buena Vista, their record is now 13-8.
Sage Creek beat Rancho Buena Vista 3-0 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
