The Carrollwood Day Patriots lost against the Tampa Prep Terrapins back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Carrollwood Day lost to Tampa Prep at home by a decisive 62-44 margin. While losing is never fun, Carrollwood Day can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while Tampa Prep is ranked 113th).
Carrollwood Day's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leighann Hanley, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Miller, who scored six points along with 13 rebounds.
Treniti Fluker was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Kimora Green was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Carrollwood Day bumped their record down to 4-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Tampa Prep, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
Carrollwood Day will head out on the road to face off against Academy of the Holy Names at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tampa Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Winthrop College Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: JoLesa Birkhead and Gabby Bush.
