Calvert is 8-2 against the Blue Jackets since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Calvert Senecas will be playing in front of their home fans against the New Riegel Blue Jackets at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Calvert can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They blew past Woodmore 61-39. Winning may never get old, but Calvert sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Calvert got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jacob Rombach out in front who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Caden Otterbacher was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, New Riegel took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 78-49 victory over the Raiders. Given New Riegel's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 364th, while the Raiders are ranked 805th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Calvert pushed their record up to 14-4 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for New Riegel, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Calvert beat the Blue Jackets 58-48 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Does Calvert have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Jackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
