Rawlins County is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Hoxie is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Rawlins County Buffaloes will take on the Hoxie Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Rawlins County on the road against Decatur Community as the squad secured a 58-12 win. With Rawlins County ahead 36-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Ryan Sramek continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 133 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries. Sramek is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braxton Dixson, who rushed for 22 yards and a touchdown.
Rawlins County's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Dorian Culwell and Tru Dewey who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Hoxie faced Quinter in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Hoxie really took it to Quinter for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-6 win at home. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Hoxie had established a 32 point advantage.
Duncan Bell had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 101 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 209 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes. Braydon Scheetz was another key contributor, rushing for 102 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Their wins bumped Rawlins County to 7-0 and Hoxie to 6-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Rawlins County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 247.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hoxie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 176.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Rawlins County against Hoxie in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 46-18 victory. Does Rawlins County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hoxie turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
