Taconic has gone 9-1 against Wahconah Regional recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Thunder will head out to challenge the Warriors at 4:15 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Taconic had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Holyoke on Friday. The Thunder were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Purple Knights. The Thunder haven't had any issues with the Purple Knights recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Chase Wendling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Wendling was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Taconic got a massive performance out of Quentin Christopher, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Christopher has posted since back in April of 2024. Ed Ferris was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wahconah Regional, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They never let Amherst-Pelham Regional get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
James Rabuse was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Connor Kirchner, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Wahconah Regional always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Amherst-Pelham Regional only posted an OBP of .125.
Taconic now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Wahconah Regional, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Taconic couldn't quite finish off Wahconah Regional when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Thunder avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
