Seguin is on an eight-game streak of home wins, while Jefferson is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Matadors will welcome the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Seguin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Seguin's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Lanier with a sharp 17-0 victory. The Matadors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.
Austin Patek and Ethan Tipple were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Patek tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Tipple pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Patek got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI, while Tipple went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
In other pitching news, Connor Taft looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Matthew Marek was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Samuel Edwards, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Seguin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Jefferson ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Burbank 4-3.
Fernando Benitez-Ruiz tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over nine innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.
At the plate, Gabriel Rangel was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Urdiales, who went 1-for-5 with one triple and two RBI.
Seguin's win bumped their record up to 26-8. As for Jefferson, their victory bumped their record up to 17-10-1.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Seguin has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .466. However, it's not like Jefferson struggles in that department as they've averaged .493. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Seguin got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March against Jefferson by a conclusive 19-1 score. Will the Matadors repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
