Given Dawson's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Alief Hastings is ranked 1025th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Alief Taylor didn't have too much trouble with Alvin at home on Wednesday as they won 61-43. The win made it back-to-back wins for Alief Taylor.
Dawson is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. As for Alief Taylor, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9.
