It was a good run, but the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 65-45 walloping at the hands of Cannon. While losing is never fun, Charlotte Country Day School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Cannon is ranked ninth).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cannon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madison Drayton, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Drayton has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kierra Morrow, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Charlotte Country Day School's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Cannon, their victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-6.
Charlotte Country Day School will head out on the road to challenge Charlotte Latin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cannon won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Legacy Early College at 3:30 p.m. on January 13th.
