Devin Zuno and Xu Li were among the main playmakers for Kelly as the former went 7-for-16 en route to 18 points and three steals and the latter posted 11 points and seven rebounds. That's the most steals Zuno has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Armani Rubio, who scored 12 points and eight boards.
Meanwhile, Kennedy humbled Mansueto with a 57-22 victory.
Kelly better keep an eye on Javeon Sargent-Williams. He was instrumental in Kennedy's win, shooting 75% from the field to rack up 20 points and five steals. Sargent-Williams continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kavarion McCarter, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 11 points and three steals.
Kennedy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matchups.
The win got Kelly back to even at 2-2. As for Kennedy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Kelly has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 22.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kennedy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Kelly ended up a good deal behind Kennedy when the teams last played back in November of 2019, losing 68-51. Will the Trojans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
