Baseball Recap: Williamson Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Williamson won the last time they faced Marion and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Marauders blew past the Black Knights 16-6. The result was nothing new for the Marauders, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Caiden Watson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Watson was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, David DeFisher was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Riley Begy, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Williamson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Williamson is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Marion, their defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13.

Williamson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 1-0 loss against East Rochester on the 17th. As for Marion, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-0 defeat against Gananda Central on the 15th.
