After starting their season with two straight games on the road, Arizona College Prep is finally coming home. They will look to take advantage of their home-field as they take on the Estrella Foothills Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alec Grant was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 90 yards. Another rusher making a difference was Max Sasso, who rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Arizona College Prep was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 467 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Apache Junction only gained 56.
Meanwhile, Estrella Foothills entered their tilt with Mingus on Friday with seven consecutive wins dating back to last season but they'll enter their next game with eight. They strolled past the Marauders with points to spare, taking the game 42-23.
Hone Wray was a one-man wrecking crew for Estrella Foothills as he threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jacob Rawls was Wray's top target, picking up 140 receiving yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Estrella Foothills' defense and their ten sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Xander Teeter and Dasan Guevara-Ponce who racked up 4.5 sacks between them. Teeter also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up 2.5 sacks, making 13 total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defending a pass.
The victory got Arizona College Prep back to even at 1-1. As for Estrella Foothills, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
